چکیده

In vitro shoot multiplication from nodal explants of Clitoria ternatea was standardized by using MS (Murashige & Skoog) medium supplemented with a cytokinin (BA or Kin). Inclusion of NAA in the culture medium along with BA promoted a higher rate of shoot multiplication. The mean number of shoots per explant after 4 weeks of culture was maximum (5.21) on the MS medium supplemented with 2.0 mg l BA and 0.25 mg l NAA. The elongated shoots rooted within 7-8 days in 1⁄2 strength MS medium supplemented with 0.25 mg l of NAA and 2% (w/v) sucrose. About 85% of the rooted plantlets survived acclimatization and transfer to the greenhouse. The results will facilitate the conservation and propagation of this important medicinal plant.

In vitro direct plant regeneration from shoot tip explants of Clitoria ternatea - An important medicinal plant

A simple micropropagation method from shoot tip explants was reported here for Clitoria ternatea L., an economically important medicinal plant. High frequency of micro shoots were obtained from this explants on MS medium supplemented with various concentrations of Indole Acetic acid (IAA) (0.5 2.0 mg/l) and KN (0.5 -2.0 mg/l). Maximum number of shoots was obtained from shoot tip explants in the...

Micropropagation of Phyla nodiflora (L.) Greene: An Important Medicinal Plant

Nodal explants of Phyla nodiflora (L.) Greene, were cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with different combination and concentration of cytokinins and auxins for multiple shoots regeneration. The maximum numbers of shoots were found in MS medium supplemented with2.5 mgl-16-benzylaminopurine (BA) and 0.5 mgl-1 kinetin (KN). Elongated shoots were transferred to rooting ...

Evaluation of antipyretic potential of Clitoria ternatea L. extract in rats.

The methanol extract of Clitoria ternatea L. root (MECTR) blue flowered variety (Family: Fabaceae), was evaluated for its anti-pyretic potential on normal body temperature and yeast-induced pyrexia in albino rats. Yeast suspension (10 ml/kg body wt.) increased rectal temperature after 19 hours of subcutaneous injection. The extract, at doses of 200, 300 and 400 mg/kg body wt., p.o., produced si...
